Author Contribution: E Tech Group CEO Matt Wise
E Tech Group was selected by Control Engineering and Plant Engineering as the 2025 System Integrator of the Year in the large company category. The award is widely considered one of the highest honors within the controls and automation industry. We couldn’t be more excited and thrilled—this award is a tremendous honor that makes me proud of everything the E Tech Group team has built together.
Winners are chosen by a panel of publication editors and industry experts who complete an in-depth review across three primary criteria: technical expertise, business practices, and customer satisfaction. Applicants submit comprehensive documentation showcasing their company’s strengths in each domain.
Below are some of the highlights from our submission.
Data Centers: E Tech Group’s Expertise in Large, Complex Projects
The first technical portion of E Tech Group’s application focused on our hyperscale data center expertise.
A hyperscale data center is a large-scale facility designed to efficiently support massive amounts of data processing, storage, and networking to power cloud computing services. Data center projects typically demand greater than 99% uptime as an operating specification, a challenge for any system integrator to reliably implement, and one that requires tremendous expertise and planning. Greenfield projects of this type are large-scale, multi-year commitments. With dozens of data centers completed, and many more underway and even more planned for the future, E Tech Group is a leader in this industry.
In a Greenfield setting, E Tech Group is typically responsible for the design, implementation, installation, and commissioning of the building automation system (BAS), and the electrical power management systems (EPMS). We also handle instrumentation procurement and calibration for monitoring and controlling the mechanical and electrical systems within the data center.
E Tech Group Meets and Exceeds Exceptional Design Challenges
Data center clients are known to demand strong attention to detail, including adherence to strict quality and performance commissioning standards measured by a third-party auditor. To meet these standards, E Tech Group devised and formalized new methodologies ensuring zero defects at commissioning. As a result, E Tech Group consistently outperforms other integrators in the auditing process, ranking as the top performer in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC). The process has been so successful that we have set the benchmark for other integrators working in the same role.
With continued and ongoing projects underway, E Tech Group continues to expand its role and leadership in the data center industry.
Technical Innovation of Digital Twins Results in Cost Savings
The next technical portion of the application discussed an ongoing digital twins project. This work is particularly exciting for E Tech Group because it showcases the incredible results we obtain due to the diverse knowledge base within our software development team. The lead engineer for this project opted to utilize a software development tool from outside of the manufacturing industry – a 3D video game development platform called Unity – in a highly creative manner that has provided the client with exceptional results.
The client can view the digital twin version of their production lines in a 3D virtual environment from any web browser. The project has resulted in several million dollars of annual savings, as the need for engineers to travel onsite to address production line issues has been dramatically reduced and as a result, uptime has tremendously increased. More information about this work can be found in an earlier article.
Business Skills that Maintain and Nurture Employee Talent and Energy
Within the System Integrator of the Year application, we chose to highlight a particularly unique and effective internal policy within E Tech Group – the “Love Your Job” promise.
E Tech Group’s Commitment to Employees: “Love Your Job” Promise
This policy states that if an employee is not loving their job as much as they could be, our internal team will help them find a new role within E Tech Group. If no such role exists our team will also support the process of helping the individual find a position outside the company that they feel passionate about.
Having previously witnessed how this policy fostered a healthy company culture, I felt it would be a valuable addition to E Tech Group. By providing employees the freedom to pursue roles they enjoy and are passionate about, we have fostered an empowering and positive company culture for everyone.
Customer Satisfaction: The Cornerstone of our Business
Since we operate across several diverse industries with their own standards and expectations, E Tech Group takes a project-driven approach to client satisfaction. Our submission focused on several ways we measure and address client satisfaction with the goal of continuous improvement.
Some of the highlights include:
- One designated point of contact for a project is responsible for addressing a client’s questions and concerns.
- E Tech Group follows CSIA Best Practices for project management, including maintaining regular communication with the client throughout the project life cycle.
- E Tech offers clients quick and easy access to remote support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- To gain a deeper understanding, we partner with an independent third-party company, Rivergate Marketing, to conduct in-depth, hour-long interviews with several of our clients. This collaboration has provided valuable insights into how our work is perceived, helping us identify areas for continuous improvement. These clients not only shared their perspectives but also agreed to serve as references for our application. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing trust in E Tech Group and their support in achieving this recognition.
